My 1st - 3rd graders are singing "My Favorite Things" for our holiday show, and to get them to REALLY remember the words, here's a little thing I do...
I tell them, "I need help! I can't seem to get the words right! Please stop me when you hear something wrong!" It is so much fun! They LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE to catch me messing up!
We sing and do actions together, and as we are going along, their eyes and ears open for my silly slip-ups. I sing something like, "Raindrops on daisies..." They smile and scream, "Stop!" I say, "Okay, I've got it THIS time!" Then I make it through that phrase and sing, "And whiskers on cats..." They giggle more this time and scream, "Stop!"
We keep going back to the beginning and starting over with me getting it right until I get to a new part. They love it and learn it! I use it close to rehearsals lots of times!
Have fun!
