I thought I'd share a new bulletin board idea. I put it in the music hallway at one of my schools.
I took a large piece of bulletin board paper (sky blue) and drew the staff, treble clef, and the treble clef note names across the whole sheet (about 3 or 4 yards long). I put the space notes first followed by the line notes. (Each note moved further to the right.) I drew the noteheads, but used the ellison machine to make red letters for each note name. I glued each note name inside the noteheads that I drew.
The cute thing about the board is what I put above it and wrote on it: Above the board I put a three to four foot streamer of plastic flying birds that I got at a party store. They are three rows deep, so there are a lot of birds flying in the music hallway. On the paper, above the notes, I wrote: "'FACE' it. Every Good Bird Does Fly." To make it "cross-curricular," I also diagrammed each of the two sentences. The diagrammed sentence samples are placed on sentence strips and glued directly below each of the sentences.
