My K's are really antsy and have a short attention span (sound familiar to anyone?), and this worked pretty well with them today, so I thought I'd pass it along. It was raining out, so we started out singing "Rain, Rain, Go Away" (from Music K-8, Vol. 13, No. 4). We made up our own little change:
Rain, rain, go away, come again another day
(Insert child's name here) wants to play
I would point to a child, and we would sing his/her name; then s/he got to say or sing what s/he wanted to play. We had all kinds of responses, and a fun time, and they all kept singing!
