For a dry erase tablet, I used a draw program, or paint, and made five lines for a staff. I printed out a copy and, using the copy machine and 65 pound paper, I made 25 staffs. Next, I had the staffs laminated so the students could write the answers to the questions that I ask with dry erase markers. Tissues or paper towels will clean the tablets up nicely. For stubborn marks, the dry erase solvent works well. Students can put something more solid underneath for stability.
I've gone so far as making a piano keyboard and a staff on the same sheet. I've done similar things for my band students; I ask them to color in the fingering for a specific note(s), and to show that note on the staff with the appropriate clef. I also do a similar thing for my string students.
