Give each student a piece of bubble gum to chew. Put four chairs in front of the students. Ask students to chomp the beat chairs as you touch them. Add music to feel the beat as they warm up their gum. Ask one student to sit in one of the chairs. Ask students to prepare their gum for a bubble pop. Ask students to pop their bubble on the beat of the chair the student is sitting in. Repeat until the student has sat on all four beats. Turn on the music and ask students to blow and pop bubbles only on the beat (quarter notes). Show on board how the rhythm of quarter notes and rests look like and ask students to play the lines.
