I am taking the K-6 Florida Certification test on June 30 for the
same reasons. Although I have a full-time position next year at my
school, I have no guarantees after that.

I'm going to do it.

This summer I am going to Praxis into Early Childhood Ed.

It's really about opening possibilities for me next year. I get the
distinct impression (and have scheduling proof) that I will probably
be bumped
to part time next year as will all the specials. I could be wrong,
but it
looks VERY much like that.

So, I'm hoping that with additional certification it may open up
positions
closer to home. My husband thinks its a great idea. He thinks that
teaching music the way I do (he implies I'm a little detailed
oriented and anal
retentive here...*giggle*) that a classroom position may mean less work
outside of work. I guess we'll see what happens.

Do any of you have multiple certifications? What are your thoughts?
Anyone else considering doing something like this to be more
marketable if the
occasion arises?
