Subject: [MK8]song question

Hi,
There is a song in my 3rd grade Share the Music series called "My Good
Old Man." It says that the song is a Southern American Folk Song. The
kids always love it, but say it doesn't make sense or is a little
different. Does anyone have any information about this song or any song
history that I could pass on to my students?
