Instead of tying on the "belts," I provided a rubber band to go around the bell of the recorder. The students slip the belt (colored yarn piece) through the rubber band and allow it to hang there. They can choose to tie it onto the rubber band or just let it hang. The kids like this new way of affixing the belts.
