In the Spring of 2006, our Fine Arts department sponsored our first annual Fine Arts Exhibition. The art teachers collected artwork throughout the year (at least one sample from every student in the district), and the stage was set for various small ensembles and solo performances for all students involved in the music department. For a three hour time frame, the community was invited to the school for an "open house." The art was displayed in our commons area/cafeteria while musical performances occurred on stage. The admission fee was one canned food/non-perishable item that was donated to our local food bank. This year's event will also include handouts that will include information regarding our state standards, and how we met those standards in regards to the projects and performances. The exhibitions have been very well received by the administration, school board, parents and, most importantly, the students. We are not only able to celebrate our students and their artistic abilities, but we were able to give back to our community in so many positive ways.
