Do You Recall September?

From Plank Road Publishing

by Teresa Jennings

This thought-provoking and poignant song is an appropriate choice for your school's commemoration of Patriot Day (September 11). Beginning with a lyrical and haunting trumpet solo, it evokes a sense of both sadness and patriotism. The lyrics are poetic, contrasting the beauty of the season with emotional memories. Since the lyrics are not specific, however, this can be a beautiful concert piece for other occasions, patriotic or otherwise. The piece is written for 3 parts but works equally well in unison or with only 2 parts. In case you would like to add sign language to your performance, we have included the signs for the lyrics. (from Music K-8, Vol. 19, No. 1)
