"On Yon Far Mountain" is a happy, upbeat song of peace. The "far mountain" acts as a metaphor: When we reach that mountain there will be no more sorrow, hate, or war. Rather, we will know and walk in peace with one another.

This is a two-beat, campfire type song. Lots of acoustic guitar drives the piece, with acoustic bass, piano, banjo, and percussion instruments of clave, tambourine, and cajón to provide the beat. Your students provide handclaps on the backbeats of the "bring it home" chorus. The song is unison until an optional part 2 joins in for that last chorus. A rehearsal track for part 2 is included in the kit. (from Music K-8, Vol. 27, No. 5)
