This work is an imaginative theme set for two soprano recorders and alto recorder, backed by the orchestra on the recording. It is scored so that you can use any or all recorders, though all are similarly easy and the work sounds best with all three. We have regularly inserted a 5/4 measure to head into new sections of the piece, and it is an easy way to introduce young players to unusual time signatures. Recorder 1 uses the notes E, G, A, B, C, D; recorder 2 uses G, A, B, C; and the alto recorder uses D, E, F, G. (from Music K-8, Vol. 30, No. 5)
