Up And Down (Opposites)
From Plank Road Publishing
by Anne Ellsworth and David EllsworthThis primary song focuses on the concept of opposites. The melody is very easy to learn, even for your youngest singers. The gentle background accompaniment on our recording is hammered dulcimer, piano, and recorder. This is easily reproduced in a live setting, if you wish. You could also just use piano.
To reinforce the concepts, let students act out the words. For example, let them move up and down or back and forth. Squat down for "short" and stand up for "tall." Sing softly for "soft" and loudly for "loud." (from Music K-8, Vol. 9, No.4)
