CAST OF CHARACTERS

NOTE: All characters in this musical may be male or female. Please change gender of the script and lyrics as needed throughout this production.

  • Storytellers: 30 total; 1 has a vocal solo (in #1), 2-30 have one spoken line each. If you desire a smaller cast, several nonconsecutive lines may be assigned to a fewer number of storytellers. Storytellers serve as the chorus, so any number of additional singers can be added.
  • Maliki, a lion: A lead with several spoken lines and two vocal solos (in #2 and #4).
  • Panya, a mouse: A lead with several spoken lines and two vocal solos (in #2 and #4).
  • Tumbili, a monkey: Five spoken lines.
  • Tembo, an elephant: Five spoken lines.
  • Kiboko, a hippo: Five spoken lines.
  • Twiga, a giraffe: Five spoken lines.
  • Hunter: No spoken lines. Captures Maliki (during #3). Could be a small group.
  • Animals: Any number of performers may be added as jungle animals.

COSTUMES: Costumes may be as simple or as elaborate as you wish.
