Cast of Characters (in order of appearance) and Costumes
- ANNOUNCER: May be backstage on a microphone. Or may be all dressed up in front of the curtain or in downstage area. Has a booming voice.
- STAR SINGERS: Any number of singers may be located on the stage or in the pit. This is your chorus for the show. They sing along on every song except for Cupid's "You Must Love Me." You may use a different group of singers for each number if you prefer. Dressed in bright holiday colors, or as elves or toy soldiers!
- SNOWCREST: Nick (male) or Nicky (female) should be dressed as the host of the show. Snowcrest really keeps things moving along, ushering the judges and reindeer participants on and off the stage as needed.
- CRUELLE: Steven (male) or Susan (female) is the most difficult of judges. We used a British accent, of course. A bit brusque, curt. Doesn't hold back. Dressed professionally.
- MRS. CLAUS: Traditional brightly colored Christmas dress, though dolled-up for the evening (she doesn't get out much!). Thoughtful with her comments, and not thrilled when Vixen flirts with her husband.
- SANTA: Totally involved in this event. Enjoys every minute of it. Traditionally dressed in a Santa suit, perhaps with a bit of sparkle added for the evening.
- REINDEER (8): The traditional eight reindeer are not so traditional tonight! Each allows his/her personality to shine through. Most of the reindeer may be male or female, with the exception of Vixen (female) and Blitzen (male). Also, a male is preferred for Dancer. Reindeer are dressed in brown sweats with antlers, but each should have one or two special items added to his/her costume (vest, fancy pants, headband, sunglasses, skirt, shirt. boa, pompoms, football jersey/helmet, etc.). Be inventive and make it something noticeable, so that each reindeer has a definite memorable identity.
- NOTE: Lines and lyrics need to be changed to reflect the gender of the character who is speaking/singing. ALL reindeer need to learn the underlined "winner" lines at the end of the show, in case they win. (Now indicated as Comet in the script.)
- HOLLY & IVY: Two accountants. Male or female. Formally dressed geeks.
- ADDITIONAL PERFORMERS may be used as make-up people, camera operators, sound crew, vote collectors, sign holders, etc. These busy extra "actors" will give the feel of a live TV production. Dressed in bright holiday colors, or as elves or toy soldiers!
