Cast of Characters
(All of the characters in the show can be played by either boys or girls.)
- Stowaway
- King of the High "Cs"
- Pirates
- Bluebeard
- Blackbeard
- Yellowbeard
- Whitebeard
- Purplebeard
- Redbeard
- Greenbeard
- Brownbeard
- No beards
- Prisoners
Note: You could supplement the pirates with a cast of as many as you like. You could easily add other bearded pirates, even including characters such as Zebrabeard (stripes), Dalmatianbeard (polka dots), Rainbowbeard (rainbow-colored beard) and so on. If you do this, you might want to divvy up some of the lines of dialog to give these new characters some of the lines to deliver.
Costume Suggestions
You should try to be as creative and fun as you can be while staying in the pirate genre: knee-length pants with bright colored knee socks, blousey shirts with cummerbund belts. Some could wear bandanas, others tri-cornered hats. Some could have patches over one eye, a parrot sittings on their shoulder, an earring in their ear and so on. You might have one with a peg leg, another with a hook for a hand. Encourage the actors to be very creative with their costumes. Make them bright and fun as opposed to dark and menacing. Of course, the prisoners would be dressed in dirty rags. If there were some female prisoners, they could be dressed like peasant women with long skirts, bandanas, and such.
There are also specific costume suggestions for the Cast of Characters.
Staging Suggestions are also included.
