Proud
by Teresa JenningsA Celebration of Ourselves
Self-esteem is a problem for people of all ages, but if a child can develop a good self-image early in life, there is a much greater chance for success and happiness. With this in mind, Teresa Jennings has created Proud, a compelling musical revue that uses music to help students feel good about themselves, their lives and their heritage. It is a musical revue designed to be performed by multiple groups of children. It can be an all-school revue, or effectively used with one or several classes.
This unique revue includes five unison/2-part songs and very flexible dialog, giving you the option of adapting it to your needs. The five songs include the inspirational title song, "Proud," the touching "On The Day I Was Born," for your littlest singers, and "Identity," a powerful song that celebrates the individual. "Teach Me Well" is an intriguing reminder from the children to the adults around them, and the revue culminates in the dramatic "I'm A Citizen Of This World," followed by a reprise of the theme song. These are powerful, thought-provoking songs that can all be used separately for classroom use or together as it is published. Just the title song is worth the price of the revue, but every song has a special lesson for your students. And the script is open-ended and very adaptable, so you can add any other tunes you wish to customize this revue for your school's needs. You could, for instance, add songs on substance abuse or staying in school. Don't miss this chance to give your students a positive outlook on their lives.
