Rigadoon
by Henry Purcell/arr. Paul JenningsHenry Purcell was composing music at age nine in many different styles. Written in 1687, "Rigadoon" is a popular song for young pianists as well as recorder methods. Our arrangement uses the original harmonies and is set for harpsichord, strings, and two recorder parts. It's a great tune for learning about Purcell, the Baroque period, and the harpsichord. The recorder part 1 is easier and uses only the notes G, A, B, and C. Recorder part 2 is harder and uses low D, low E, F natural, G, B, and C. (from Recorder Classroom, Vol. 1, No. 3)
