Crawdad Song, The/Chasin' The Crawdad!

This popular old folk tune originated in the 19th century South, a slight variant on "Sweet Thing." It's easy-going and fun to sing. Our arrangement features acoustic bass, guitars, and a solo lead on the dobro.

The chaser is much faster and features our string section doing lots of theatrical bluegrass riffs. The lyrics are new, and the ending lets your singers show off their new appreciation of dynamics. Go, crawdad! (from Music K-8, Vol. 19, No. 1)
