Here's a nice, short cross curricular piece that helps youngsters learn the names of the months of the year in order. It's set in a Vaudeville-esque style reminiscent of the 1920s.
For added fun, use "megaphones" - real or otherwise. An easy megaphone can be crafted of thick paper shaped into a cone and taped together, or a makeshift version can be used simply by cupping hands around mouths. Add some vibrato to the sustained notes as indicated to complete the effect. If you're doing this ditty in performance, consider letting kids dress in 1920s costumes. (from Music K-8, Vol. 20, No. 3)
