Candle Glowing In The Window, A
by Teresa JenningsBeautiful and hymn-like, this gentle song is a lovely way to showcase your choir during the holiday season or anytime you want to bring the subject of peace to your performances. It begins with an optional solo. Parts 2 and 3, which are also optional, enter beneath the solo with light "Ooh's." By the second verse, it blooms into a full 3-part mixed choral piece. It's not particularly long, so learning it will be a little easier, especially for the lower, changing, and changed voices of your part 3 singers. The optional solo returns again at the end to finish it off. Underneath it all, there is an exquisite brass choir led by a sublime solo trumpet that comes and goes throughout.
This song will also work in unison, and the kit includes a unison full performance track to demonstrate. You'll also find a full performance 3-part version that does not use a soloist, in case that's helpful. If you have an ambitious or more advanced choir, they may wish to try the tune a cappella. We have provided an example of this, as well as a piano only instrumental version and rehearsal tracks for parts 2 and 3. (from Music K-8, Vol. 28, No. 2)
