Get Your Winter On
by Teresa JenningsThis seasonal rock song, which urges us to embrace winter, has a lot going for it. It is written in such a way that it could be used as a unison piece for younger singers. It also works with older classes or a combination of age groups, notably if you include the optional second part. A rehearsal track for part 2 is included.
The electric guitars and bass, power brass, and driving drums lend themselves well to high energy, so be sure to let students really sing out. You may also wish to incorporate some movement. Invite the kids to come up with some steps. Consider using easy costumes like hats, scarves, gloves, etc. Props like ice skates, sleds, snow boards, or skis could be fun as well.
