Jingle As We Go
by Teresa JenningsThis seasonal performance piece gives you the opportunity to shine a spotlight on several groups of students with their respective instruments and/or voices all at once. Everything is optional except the melody vocal line, but it's the combination of elements that makes it fun.
Vocal parts 1, 2, and 3 are simple and repetitive. You could do it with just parts 1 and 2, but part 3 allows those lower, changing, or changed voices to join in the effort with relative ease.
Instrumentation includes jingle bells, ukulele, guitar, mallets, Boomwhackers®, bells, and non-pitched percussion. This percussion can include just about anything you have on hand, such as buckets, hand drums, rhythm sticks, and woodblocks. Once each line is learned, it's just a matter of marrying them all together, and voilà! A catchy tune you can use for your winter or holiday performances.
Bonus tracks include a full version without any kid percussion, an accompaniment version that does include kid percussion, an a cappella version, isolated kid percussion only, and part 2 and part 3 for rehearsing. Individual student parts are included in the PDF. (from Music K-8, Vol. 33, No. 2)
