March Of The Droids
by M.C. Handel/arr. Paul Jennings
OK... We don't have rights to the music from STAR WARS™, and besides, John Williams may be a great composer, but has he written any themes that can be performed by beginning recorder players? Well, M. C. Handel has! And with Paul Jennings' cybernetic arrangement, we have a tune that young players should enjoy and droids everywhere would be happy to march to.
The recording (yes, you really need it to do this tune) begins with 30 seconds or so of spacey sounds and droid-like effects, then the orchestra takes over. Recorders enter on bar 5, playing divisi D and E. If you wish, you can just have your players play the Es, thereby reducing this to the use of E, G, A, and B.
At the very end, the players are allowed to improvise in a droidly manner using the notes they have learned. Droid movement options are up to you.
