This gorgeous song was created as a homage to all those marvelous old Christmas ballads of long ago. It refers gently to pieces of lyrics here and there that most of us will recognize. It's a simple melody to learn and very memorable. The lush progressions and orchestrations capture the sound of nostalgia which is so integral to the piece. One other nice thing about this song is that it is not holiday specific. It never says anything about any one holiday or another, though it does manage to inspire that warm and fuzzy seasonal feeling and mention many familiar elements of the season.

The recorded tracks are special, including two separate performances of the song; one with a jazz quartet and another with a richly scored string orchestra and rhythm section. (from Music K-8, Vol. 13, No. 2)
