Old Folks At Home (Swanee River)

From Plank Road Publishing

arr./adapted Mike Wilson

Includes a choreography video!

"Old Folks At Home," better known as "Swanee River" or "Way Down Upon the Swanee River," was written by Stephen Foster in 1851. Our arrangement lays out the traditional melody in unison and features lyrics appropriate for kids. This song provides a wonderful opportunity to teach the concept of swing rhythm. We've orchestrated with old-timey instruments like banjo and washboard but added a string section to later verses that brings a sense of calm. (from Music K-8, Vol. 26, No. 3)
